The reaction simplifies the production of pharmaceutically important molecules called lactones and other complex compounds.
A consortium of astronomers from across the world, including from India, have detected the signature for the background hum of the universe. Called the gravitational wave background (GWB), these are ripples in the fabric of spacetime pervading all of the space around us. The Global collaboration of radio astronomers called the International Pulsar Timing Array (IPTA) made the announcement of the detection on June 29, 2023.
First experimental demonstration of a 4T- silicon-perovskite tandem solarcell from India, with efficiency greater than 26%.
Researchers from Mizoram University and Max Planck Institute for Biology have discovered a new species of gliding gecko from the forests of Mizoram.
Researchers have come up with an innovative approach for measuring the coating performance.
The Regional YIMs were conceived to be scientist-driven initiatives, with support from IndiaBioscience, to promote the ethos of the annual Young Investigator Meeting among local scientific communities across India.
Two new studies from the Indian Institute of Bombay (IIT Bombay), Mumbai, show the importance of defects in the arrangement of atoms in a crystal, called dislocations, in shaping the physical properties of metallic alloys.
As much as we’d like to shush about it, the fact remains that mental health is an imperative component of one’s overall well-being that encompasses a wide range of emotional, psychological, and social factors. One key area of research in mental health sciences is the study of neurobiology, which focuses on the biological and physiological processes that, when gone awry, are responsible for various mental health conditions.
When molecules form from many atoms, the atoms can combine in different ways. Two forms of the same molecule can have the same composition but have different arrangements of atoms, giving rise to isomers. Some isomers may have structures that are mirror images of each other. Such molecules are called chiral molecules. Scientists are interested in studying such molecules, for example, penicillin, because one arrangement can be a lifesaver while the other could be fatal!
