Two new studies from the Indian Institute of Bombay (IIT Bombay), Mumbai, show the importance of defects in the arrangement of atoms in a crystal, called dislocations, in shaping the physical properties of metallic alloys.

Param is a resident editor of Research Matters, Gubbi Labs. He obtained his Ph.D. from Department of Botany, University of Delhi in 2016 and recently completed his postdoctoral research from ICAR- NBPGR, New Delhi. His research area is plant molecular biology, evolutionary biology, and bioinformatics. Apart from research, he is interested in science communication and enjoys food, music, and reading. Param also writes in Assamese and manages the Assamese version of Research Matters. Param is a recipient of  India Science Media Fellowship (ISMF), 2019.
