Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, one of the architects of the modern Indian space program and a stalwart of Indian science, passed away on 24 April 2025 at the age of 84.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his tributes on X: "Two days ago, we lost the country’s great scientist, Dr. K. Kasturirangan ji. His contribution in lending newer heights to science, education, and India’s Space Program shall always be remembered. ISRO attained a new identity under his leadership."

The world of botany lost a towering figure with the passing of Kattungal Subrahmanyan Manilal, universally lauded for his contributions to the field through his translations and research of the ancient Latin text, "Hortus Malabaricus." K S Manilal, as he was better known, left an indelible mark on the academic and scientific communities. He passed away at the age of 86, in a private hospital in Thrissur, Kerala on the 2nd of January, 2025.

Prof. Baldev Raj was born on 9th April 1947. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering from the Government Engineering College, Raipur under the Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University (currently National Institute of Technology, Raipur). After completing his BE, Prof. Raj moved to Bengaluru to join Indian Institute of Science to complete his PhD and then moved to Chennai to obtain a Doctor of Science degree from Sathyabama Deemed University.
